An All-Male team of hosts for Kyiv!

Moments ago, the hosts of Eurovision 2017 were announced, and for the first time in the history of Eurovision, it will be a team of three male hosts. Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk and familiar face to Eurovision Timur Miroshnychenko are the three lucky guys who will be the hosts of all three shows in Ukraine this May. Oleksandr and Volodymyr will be the two main stage hosts, while Timur will be hosting from the Green room, where all the artists relax after their performances, and eagerly wait for the results.

So who are the hosts?

Oleksandr Skichko has become a household name in Ukraine through hosting popular programmes such as Wake Up, Star Way and Sing Like a Star. He began his career at the young age of 15, and then went on to be a semi-finalists in Ukraine’s Got Talent where he dazzled with his parody act.

Volodymyr Ostapchuk has hosted many live shows in his career, including Morning with Ukraine as well as presenting Shopping Goddess and Style Icon. He has also worked as a voice artist, including voicing the character of Hans in the Ukrainian version of Frozen, the Disney animation.

Timur Miroshnychenko is no stranger to Eurovision, and it comes as no surprise that he will be a part of the hosting team. He has hosted numerous national final selections, and both Junior Eurovision editions that have taken place in Ukraine. He has provided the commentary for all of the Eurovision family of events, and most recently co-hosted the Semi-final allocation draw which took place in January. In total, he has been a part of 30 Eurovision projects, making him a perfect match for Eurovision.

Jon Ola Sand has of course commented on the allocation of these three hosts, saying, ‘We are thrilled at the prospect of having three hosts for this year’s contest. This will be the first time that Eurovision has had three male hosts in its sixty-two year history, and Olexandr, Volodymyr, and Timur have a proven track record of combining humour, improvisation, and professionalism in their routines. I’m confident that they will provide much entertainment for viewers in May’

Regarding the choice of three male hosts, the Show Producer Stuart Barlow has said, ‘We did not set out looking for three young men but after being so impressed by them in the castings, we started to develop the idea of having these amazing young guys working together. They have a great chemistry, and its great because it has not been done before at Eurovision’

Are you happy with the hosts?
