Yodel-ay-ee-oo! Ilinca and Alex Florea Yodel their way to Kyiv!

Last week, the first and only semi-final took place in Romania, where the juries decided on the top 10 acts. Overnight, the final has taken place, where these acts have once again taken to the stage to decide which act would be representing Romania on their return to Eurovision.

The ten acts are:

  • Ana-Maria Mirică – Spune-mi tu (Tell me)

  • Ilinca ft. Alex Florea -Yodel It!

  • Eduard Santha – Wild Child

  • Xandra – Walk On By

  • Mihai – I Won’t Surrender

  • Maxim – Adu-ți aminte (Remember)

  • Tavi Colen & Emma – We Own the Night

  • Instinct – Petale (Petals)

  • Ramona Nerra – Save Me

  • Cristina Vasiu – Set the Skies on Fire

Voters had one hour to vote for their favourites, and after the lines were closed, the top three were announced. They were:

  • Ilinca ft. Alex Florea -Yodel It!

  • Mihai – I Won’t Surrender

  • Instinct – Petale (Petals)

Instinct finished up in 3rd place, and former Eurovision participant Mihai came second, meaning that Ilinca and Alex Florea will be heading to Kyiv! Both Ilinca and Alex have taken part in the Voice of Romania, and are both new to the music scene. Their song was written by Mihai Alexandru, who has previously written the 2003 entry for Romania called Don’t Break My Heart, which finished 10th at Eurovision in Riga.

During the show, there were appearances from Sunstroke Project, Manel Navarro and Timebelle, who will all be competing at Eurovision in Kyiv.

Could Yodel It bring Romania another top 10 result? If you support Romania, make sure to vote for them in our Eurovision 2017 poll!
