JESC: The Netherlands to return to a National Final Format!

The Netherlands have consistently participated at Junior Eurovision since the contest began in 2003, and this year is no exception. Traditionally the Dutch broadcaster AVRO chooses to hold a national final to select their act, however last year, the trio Kisses was chosen internally. This year, they’re returning to the tried and true method of choosing their Junior Eurovision act.

This year, a total of 6 acts will compete for the opportunity to represent the Netherlands. There will be three solo artists, a duo act and two groups as part of the national final. The results will be decided by three professional judges, which different to previous years where typically the result is a split between a jury, a kids jury and televoting.

Last year, the group Kisses was internally selected with the song Kisses and Dancin’, and the song finished in 8th position overall. The Netherlands have won the competition once, in 2009 with Ralf Mackenbach and the song Click Clack. Listen to their 2016 entry here:
