Eurovision Young Dancers to be hosted in Prague!

Many of us focus on Eurovision, and some of us both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision, but what about Eurovision Young Dancers? It’s one of the various spin-offs of the Eurovision franchise, and today we’ve got news on the upcoming competition.

Before we discuss the upcoming competition, it would be good to catch up on what the contest actually is, especially for those new to the competition! Eurovision Young Dancers is a dance competition held every two years, and organised by the EBU. The competition hosts dancers between the ages of 16 and 21 from the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union. The nations can send a soloist, or a couple who dance to a style of their choice. A professional jury score performances, and the winner is again decided by the jury.

So, now that you’re caught up with a basic rundown of the competition, here’s more information on the upcoming edition! The 15th edition of Eurovision Young Dancers will take place on Saturday the 16th of December and will be held at the Forum Hall of Prague Congress Centre. Czech Television is the host of this edition of the competition, and so far, eight broadcasters have confirmed their participation. The competing nations so far are:

  • Czech TV (Czech Republic)

  • WDR (Germany)

  • PBS Ltd. (Malta)

  • NRK (Norway)

  • TVP (Poland)

  • RTP (Portugal)

  • RTV (Slovenia)

  • SVT (Sweden)

The list of participants is not final. EBU Member broadcasters still have until the 15th of July to confirm their participation, so we may see the list grow. The show will be hosted by Libor Bouček, with the winner decided by a panel of dance experts. The show will be choreographed by Petr Zuska, who is the artistic director of the Czech National Ballet in the nation’s capital Prague.
